On the morning of June 5th, GUO Jinlong, Secretary of the Beijing Municipal CPC Committee and BODA’s Executive Chairman met with Jérôme Valcke, FIFA’s General Secretary.

Secretary GUO stated that the Beijing Municipal Government placed emphasis on football development, actively promoted the professional football, and widely carried out youth campus football activities. He also said that the football was the easiest sport for youth to play, and the generalization of football should be made firstly among children. He added that Beijing welcomed high-level world football games to be held in Beijing and China.

Mr. Valcke stated that the youth should be the backbone of football development in China. He suggested opening football class in school. He said that China was capable of staging the World Cup, which would probably take place in 2030-2034 according to the status quo.

ZHANG Gong, Vice Mayor of the Beijing Municipal Government and CHEN Xiaoling, Consul of the China’s Consulate General in Rio de Janeiro also attended the meeting.
