On the evening of April 16, the launchceremony of the university promotion of outstanding music pieces for the bidfor the Olympic Winter Games took place at China University of Mining andTechnology (Beijing) under the theme of “Express our support for WinterOlympics bid and live our youth through music”. Zhu Shuquan, Deputy Secretary ofthe CPC Committee of China University of Mining and Technology, attended theevent.

The event was hosted by the BeijingOlympic City Development Association and Beijing Youth League, in partnershipwith Beijing Students Federation. Between April and December 2016, theorganizers of the event will leverage the Olympic platform and a series ofcampus cultural activities held by the Ministry of Education and universitiesgoverned by the Beijing Municipal Government to invite the producers andperformers of the outstanding music pieces to visit university campuses for aseries of activities, including teaching students to sing the WinterOlympics-related songs, giving lectures on song writing, to direct universitystudents’ attention to the Winter Olympics so that the students get involvedin, support and have good wishes for the preparations for the Olympic WinterGames.

Artist Chang Shilei, original singer ofoutstanding music for the bid for the Olympic Winter Games — Chong Feng(“reunion”) — gives a live performance of the song at the event.

After the launch ceremony, the 9thcampus singing competition took place at China University of Mining andTechnology.
