The 16th BISFW was held online because of the pandemic and 158 domestic works were solicited. After two rounds of review, 10 films were selected to participate in the 38th Sport Movies & TV - Milano International FICTS Fest. After fierce competition, Cycling Across Mongolia won the "Golden Rosette" award.
This micro-film, jointly produced by the Press and Publicity Department of the General Administration of Sport of China, the Publicity Department of the Chinese Olympic Committee, the Press and Publicity Department of the All-China Sports Federation and the China Sports Press Association, is one of the excellent works in the series of 10 sports films by the Press and Publicity Department of the General Administration of Sport of China
In the film, two Chinese cyclists ride across Mongolia from Ulaanbaatar all the way to the west. A post-80s and a post-00s, the two are like father and son, teacher and student, and encounter doubts on the road to freedom and realization of dreams. They embark on the journey to find answers, showing the charm of outdoor sport, and making people think about the effects materialism has on young people today.
According to viewers, the film made them feel the power of sport, and aroused young people's thinking about ideals and reality, renunciation and persistence.
The film features a novel theme and excellent production values. Before winning the "Golden Rosette" award, it had won the "Best Short Film Award" at the 13th Outdoor Golden Rhino Awards and the "Best Director Award" at the 2019 Nanshan International Mountain Outdoor Film Festival, and screened at the Kendal Mountain Festival in the UK.
The Sport Movies & TV - Milano International FICTS Fest, founded in 1982, is co-sponsored by the Federation Internationale Cinema Television Sportifs and the International Olympic Committee. It is an international sports film and television event, known as the "Sports Oscars".
