On November 13, the awards ceremony & closing ceremony the 40th edition of Sport Movies & TV—Milano International FICTS Fest, which is the final of the World FICTS Challenge, was held. Selected by the Beijing International Sports Film Week, which is part of Beijing International Film Festival, A Date with Snow and Ice and The Wonder of Dance won the Golden Garland Award in the TV Shows – New Technologies Category and the Sport and Disability Category, respectively.

Nominees included Breaking Through (Movies Category), All in Love (TV Shows – New Technologies Category) and Breathe (Sport and Society Category) selected by Beijing International Sports Film Week.

Sport Movies & TV – Milano International FICTS Fest was founded in 1982 and was officially recognised by the International Olympic Committee on January 10, 1983. Its sponsor is Federation Internationale Cinema Television Sportifs (FICTS). In recent years, the film festival & world finals of the World FICTS Challenge attracted participants from more than 120 countries and regions and received more than a thousand works from 19 stops around the world each year. About 150 shortlisted works were screened during the finals each year.

Beijing International Sports Film Week is one of the stops of Sport Movies & TV – Milano International FICTS Fest. Its mission is to promote Chinese sports films and television works and select outstanding works for the finals of the Fest. In 2022, Beijing International Sports Film Week officially became part of the Beijing International Film Festival and recommended a total of 18 films, screened 9 films offline and 40 films online, and selected 4 films for charity screening. The organiser also held a host of side-line activities and forums, and well-known filmmakers, sports experts and athletes were invited to these events. For example, it held Beijing International Sports Film Week Poster Exhibition. Many guests attended the event and took pictures. The launch of the Beijing International Sports Film Week Sports Film Project Support Fund was announced at the Project Financing Section of the Beijing International Film Festival. The mission of the Fund is to support the creation of outstanding sports works (including script writing), encourage the film industry to deliver more high-quality sports films, thus to promote the development of Chinese sports films.

Beijing International Sports Film Week, founded in 2005 when the city was preparing for the Olympic Games Beijing 2008, is an international sports film and TV trade show. After the Olympic Games, it became a regular event of the Beijing Olympic City Development Association and was incorporated into the Beijing Olympic City Sports Culture Festival. In 2009, Beijing International Sports Film Week officially became a stop of Sport Movies & TV – Milano International FICTS Fest. This year, Beijing International Sports Film Week co-sponsored by the Beijing Olympic City Development Association, Beijing 2022, the Beijing International Film Festival Organising Committee, and the Chinese Olympic Committee was included in the Beijing International Film Festival for the first time. In the future, this platform will play a bigger role in promoting Chinese sports film and TV works on the international stage.
