On September 5, the touring exhibition on the spirit of the Beijing 2022 Games arrived at Yushu No.5 Minzu Elementary School, bringing with it Olympic gift packages to the participating 2,000 students of all ethnic groups. The opening ceremony was attended by Ji Chuanpai, member of the Party Leadership Group and deputy director of Beijing Olympic City Development Center; Zhou Jian, Level II Bureau Rank Official of the Office of Beijing Municipal Leading Group for Cooperation and Assistance; Ma Chaoying, member of the Party Committee and deputy head of the Yushu Station of the Office of Beijing Municipal Leading Group for Cooperation and Assistance, deputy secretary general of Yushu Prefecture Party Committee and Government; Luo Liguo, Level IV Division Rank Official of the Office of Beijing Municipal Leading Group for Cooperation and Assistance Division I; and Yin Ping, deputy head of the Office of Beijing Olympic City Development Center. The event began with a solemn flag-raising ceremony on campus. To express their joy to have the visiting delegation, the school dance team performed the traditional Tibetan Guozhuang dance, which won applauses from the audience.

Qi Xuan said in his speech that the spirit of the Beijing 2022 Games demonstrated the strong character of the Chinese people and was a powerful force inspiring us to realize national rejuvenation. This touring exhibition brought the spirit of the Beijing 2022 Games to Yushu, Qinghai Province, on the snow-covered plateau. He hoped that the students would gain a deeper understanding about the style, wisdom and strength of China contained in the spirit of the Games from the exhibition, and draw strength from it. He hoped that the students would follow the Party’s instructions and path, aim high, cultivate talents, study hard, achieve all-round development, and contribute to the realization of the Chinese dream of national rejuvenation, truly “Together for a Shared Future.”

Ge Liwei said in his speech that the spirit of the Beijing 2022 Games was a valuable spiritual asset and should be vigorously studied and promoted. These campus activities would help young people better understand the spirit of the Beijing 2022 Games, the Olympic spirit, and the fighting spirit of Chinese athletes to win honor for the country. He hoped that the students would draw strength from them, and be inspired to study hard and serve the country. He also hoped that the students would actively promote the spirit of the Beijing 2022 Games, always live up to the Olympic motto of “Faster, Higher, Stronger – Together,” work hard constantly, and forge ahead together for the development of Yushu.

In her speech, Sun Meihong said that the arrival of this touring exhibition on the spirit of the Beijing 2022 Games was a vivid manifestation of the government’s support for the healthy growth of Yushu students and reinforcing the sense of the Chinese nation as one community. It was an attempt to strengthen patriotism in ethnic minority areas, carry on the spirit of the Games, inspire local students to serve the country, aim high, and build a common spiritual home for the Chinese nation. She hoped that teachers and students in Yushu would see, from the exhibition, the strength of the motherland, the strength of role models, and the glory of dreams, and in the future, bear in mind the big picture, be confident and open, rise to the challenges, pursue excellence, and create a better future together.

At the opening ceremony, Ji Chuanpai, Zhou Jian and Ma Chaoying presented certificates to volunteer expositors and instructors of the touring exhibition (Yushu Leg). During the travelling exhibition, 11 students from the No.5 Minzu Elementary School served as volunteer expositors.

The delegation of Beijing Olympic City Development Center brought with them Olympic gift packages, each containing an Olympic football, Beijing 2022 uniforms, and cartoons about the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games.

To express their gratitude, Yi Yang, principal of Yushu No.5 Minzu Elementary School, presented a silk banner to the Beijing Olympic City Development Center.

At the opening ceremony, Guo Dandan, China’s first world champion in skiing and an ambassador of the spirit of the Beijing 2022 Games; Liu Yukun, a champion of the Barcelona 1992 Paralympic Games, a torchbearer of the Beijing 2022 Paralympic Winter Games, and a volunteer of the Beijing 2022 Games; Cao Wenfeng, head of the Global Olympic Awareness-Raising Group; and Zhang Yangguangzi, an ambassador of the spirit of the Beijing 2022 Games and a snowboard skier each gave a wonderful speech on the spirit of the Games. It turned out to be the 18th birthday of Zhang Yangguangzi, and the teachers and students present gave him a warm round of applause to wish him a happy birthday.
